The lower jaw can be moved to a number of positions by sliding along a tracking section under the upper jaw. 

An advantage of this design is that the pliers can adjust to a number of sizes without the distance in the handle growing wider. Commonly used for turning and holding bolts and nuts, gripping irregularly shaped objects, and clamping materials.

These tools can avoid to rise sparking when tools strike, rub or collide with target in explosive atmosphere or flammable vapours and widely used in oil and gas works, petro-chemical plants, explosive manufactories, mines, shipyards, pipeline construction, armed forces, pharmacy, airport and many others.
